Jarris Smith, Quarterback with the Makos was awarded the All-Star Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the NFC team. Smith completed 6 of 18 passes for 66 yards, 1 touchdown for 18 yards and 2 interceptions. He rushed for 6 carries for 44 yards (7.3 yards per carry). Smith was also selected because of his leadership and pose while directing the NFC team. He played of the 1st half and part of the 3rd quarter.
Smith stated,"I just came out to have fun and to showcase my talent of more than just a running quarterback but can also move the ball passing. I would like to thanks my teammates for supporting me and showing that the Makos is more than a team but a family. I am humbled by this award and accept it on behalf of my team. Go Makos!"
Rev. Wilder, Makos President said, "Jarris has been a great addition to the Makos family and never complained but understood his role throughout his stint with the team. Daris Steen, Managing Partner & CEO, stated, "Jarris has brought another dimension to our team which we can build on for next season." Smith additionally has tried out with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League and will try-out for the Florida Makos professional indoor team.
